Francis trained as a barrister and was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 1996 and re-qualified as a solicitor in 2008.
Francis has advised companies and individuals on both contentious and non-contentious matters, including general corporate/company secretarial work and commercial contacts, which has given him a greater insight into disputes arising from such documentation.
Francis is well qualified to advise on arbitration matters, having made a special study of commercial and investment arbitration at the School of International Arbitration, Queen Mary, University of London. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and has recently joined the ABTA arbitration panel at CEDR Solve.
Prior to forming Rylatt Chubb, he was the Sofia Representative of Eversheds and later joined Michael Reason & Partners LLP, where he had the conduct of Kurtha v Marks [2008] EWHC (QB), a widely reported art case, acting for the successful claimant to recover two paintings by the prominent post war Indian artist, F. N. Souza.
Francis is a former Army officer. He takes pride in having brokered a settlement to a logging dispute, while he was serving in Bosnia Herzegovina, on the Inter-Entity Boundary Line between Glamoč and Mrkonjić Grad.
Francis holds a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Liverpool and an LLM degree in International Business Law from the University of London. He is also the chairman of the trustees of the Winston Churchill's Britain at War Experience. |
